REGULATIONS

 

The « Pierre Jacques en Barétous" is a mass cyclo-touring event. It is a test of endurance "Open"  to all  participants aged over 18  on the day of the test and fit for competitive cycling. Conforming to the regulations of the F. F. C. , the cyclosportive is not a competition. Except for participants taking part in route 3 "Soudet Pierre St Martin » where only an informal classification will be established, an individual timing will be carried out on the 2 other routes and each participant will receive a diploma recording his order performance.

 

THREE  ROUTES  TO  CHOOSE

 

-Route 1 : « La Pierre Jacques » 161 kms – Total climb : 4100 m – Red arrows 

-Route 2 :« L’Issaux - Labays » 121 kms – Total climb : 2700 m – Blue arrows 

-Route 3 :« La Soudet - Pierre St Martin » 67 kms – Total climb : 1410 m – Green arrows  

 

SEVEN  REFRESHMENT  POINTS

 

-Col de Soudet-Pierre St Martin: 25 kms                    -Barlanès : 65 kms       -Col d’Issarbe : 77 kms           

-Col de Soudet-Pierre St Martin : 85 kms                   -Arette : 115 kms         -Forêt d’Issaux : 128 kms

-Col de Labays : 137 kms

 

The organization reserves the right to modify the course and the regulations at any time. The cost of  registration includes security, relief, the gift runner supplies on the course, a shower and the meal after arrival. The registration to the Pierre Jacques en Baretous implies acceptance of these Regulations. The organization disclaims any responsibility for the deterioration, theft or destruction of equipment of the participants during this event.

Participants registered  for  route 3 (Soudet 67 kms) or  route 2 (Issaux-Labays 121 kms) may change in the course of the trial. They will then be classified  according to  the route taken. However those registered for  route 1 (The Pierre Jacques 161 kms) will not be allowed to change after having passed the checkpoint at Issarbe

CUT-OFF TIMES

Participants presenting  themselves :

 

1- after 11H50 at the crossroad of D918/D632(crossroad of Barlanès) will be directed toward Aramits.

2- after 12H00 in Aramits village will be directed toward the arrival.

3- after 14H00 the checkpoint at Issarbe will be eliminated and their bip number and frame plate removed.

4- after 14H30 at the entry of the village of Arette  (crossroad of the Cross of Berger) for their first passage, the competitors of Route 1 "Issaux 161 kms" will be eliminated and their bib number and  frame plate removed.

 PARTICIPANT'S OBLIGATIONS

 

-           The wearing of a rigid helmet is compulsory for all the competitors for  the totality of the 3 courses, under penalty of elimination and the withdrawal of the plate and number.

-           Each participant is obliged to respect the code of the road and  ride on the right of the road.

-           Each participant should have his/her own individual accident insurance.

-           The insurance of the F. F. C. covers any risk linked to the organization.

-           Cycling is a very popular activity in which  contact with  nature is fundamental. It is therefore  imperative  not to  throw anything on the road (paper, packaging, bottles ..) the environment must be preserved and this is a basic principle of the event. Garbage bags  are placed at your disposal at the checkpoints. As in previous years, a "green patrol" will be present  ensuring respect for these basic rules. - Any participant found  throwing papers or any item on the road will be put out of the trial. Their plate and number will be immediately withdrawn.

 

SECURITY

The security framework is ensured by :

-         a car forerunner "ATTENTION COURSE CYCLISTE”

-          a sweeping up car  with bicycle trailer "CAR BALAI – FIN DE COURSE”

-         several motocycles.

-          Race commisonners in cars.

-          A doctor on motorcycle labelled  "DOCTEUR"

-          an ambulance with 5 first aiders

-          Flagmen on foot at each non-priority crossroad.

-          A radio network consisting of nine amateur radio operators  covering the 3 courses, the pass summits and other strategic points. The location of the radio operators will be marked by  tag-cones topped with a red flag.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

This competition is open to all runners, licensees or not.

-         To full age licensee having a FFC licence containing the indication "medical certificate: YES''. Attach a photocopy of the licence.

-          To licensee possessing a non-competition-licence  issued by the FFC (with no contra-indication medical certificate), on presentation of a medical certificate with no counter-indication for the practice of competition cycling. (Validity of less than 6 months).

-         To full age licensee licensed by the peer Federations  (UCI, FEC, BOTH, FSGT, FF Triathlon, FF Handisport), provided that this licence enables the practice of competitive cycling, attach the photocopy of the licence.

-         To full age non licensee(e)s or holders of a licence FFCT on compulsory presentation of a medical certificate (original) authorising the practice of competitive cycling. (Date of issue of less than 6 months)

-         To full age licensee(e)s  of the Federations of foreign countries comprising the indication "medical certificate: YES''. attach the photocopy of the licence.

-         To licensee(e)s of the Federations of major foreign countries on compulsory presentation of a medical certificate (original) with no counter-indication for the practice of competition cycling. (Date of issue of less than six months)

      --    The licence FFCT (French Federation of cyclotourists) is considered as licence of non competitive cycling. Its owner is classified as a non mandatory licensee.

      --    Medical certificate: Only the original with the mention of "no counter-indication for the practice of competitive cycling" and whose validity is not exceeding six months will be accepted.

   -- Medical certificate: Only the original with the mention of "no counter-indication for the practice of competitive cycling " and whose validity doesn't exceeds six months will be accepted.

     -- NO EXCEPTIONS  WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

REGISTRATION

-           Online before  July  30th 2010  18H00 on the site www.velo101.com

-           Or download the registration form from the site pierrejacquesgb.olivedehaut.info and  address it with  the licence copy and the medical certificate if necessary (original  with the mention of "no counter-indication of competitive cycling") to the Office du Tourisme F- 64570 ARETTE. ( 0033 5 59 88 95 38 )

-           On Friday 30th July 2010 from 15H00 to 21H00 at the Salle des Fêtes, Place de la Marie in ARAMITS.

-          It is also possible to register on the Saturday  morning strictly only between 06H30 and 08H00. An increase of the registration fee of 5 € will then be applied.

-           Rates reserved to clubs (Bike, Mountainbike or triathlon): For 5 participants and more of the same club (See the registration bulletin  for the group rates). The group registration has  to be lodged with or sent to the Office of Tourism du Baretous F- 64570 ARETTE before 14 July 2010. After this time, the registration will be individual. Attach the copy of each licence as well as the medical certificate with the mention of "no-counter-indication to competitive cycling " if necessary.

 

BIB NUMBERS and FRAME PLATES

-           Are to be collected preferably  on Friday 30th of July 2010 from 16H00  to 21H00  at the Salle des Fêtes, Place de la Mairie in ARAMITS, upon presentation of the confirmation of registration. Collection will also be possible on the Saturday morning stritcly between 07H00 and 08H00. - The organizers will not be  held responsible for the non Departure of participants having not  collected their bib numbers before 08H00. Collection by Post will not be possible.

-           In order to operate checkpoints and photographic identifications, the frame plate must imperatively be fixed on the handlebar's centre. Any competitor not having respected this recommendation will be refused entry to the departure enclosure. He will then  be excluded from any performance timing during the event.
